The San Francisco 49ers have waived running back Jarryd Hayne, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter:
49ers waived RB Jarryd Hayne and promoted RB Kendall Gaskins to the active roster from the team’s practice squad.

Hayne, the former Austrailian rugby star, grew a large fan following as he successfully attempted to make a NFL roster this offseason.
The 49ers used Hayne primarily as a returner this season, but he did have eight carries for 25 yards this season.
