Heisman Race Week 5

We are just getting into the thick of the season and the Heisman Race is beginning to take shape. Here is a look at what the front-runners will be up against in Week 5...

Andrew Luck (UCLA @Stanford)

Andrew Luck Andrew Luck #12 of Stanford passes in the pocket against UCLA during the first quarter at Rose Bowl on September 11, 2010 in Pasadena, California.

Quarterback Andrew Luck should have no trouble adding to his already impressive resume against a banged up UCLA secondary. Even when healthy, the Bruins pass defense has been porous at best ranking 72nd among FBS schools.

Kellen Moore (Nevada @Boise State)

Kellen Moore is looking to avenge last seasons heart-breaking loss to the Wolf Pack. He has put up the most impressive stats of Heisman hopefuls (throwing for 995 YDS and 12 TD's), however the Broncos will most likely attack a weak rush defense that has given up an average of 209 YPG.

Marcus Lattimore (Auburn @ South Carolina)

Lattimore and the South Carolina offense are looking to rebound in a rematch of last years SEC Championship game. The Gamecocks face an Auburn defense that ranks 110 in FBS- allowing 477 YPG. Lattimore should have an easy time adding to his 611 rushing yards and surpassing an idle LaMichael James this weekend to reclaim his spot as the leading NCAA rusher.

Robert Griffin III (Baylor @Kansas State)

Robert Griffin III has put up unreal numbers through  three games this season. Leading the nation in both QB rating and completion percentage, Griffin has yet to throw an interception through 83 attempts. As the Bears enter BIG12 play however, look for his production to take a slip. The Kansas State defense - which ranks 6th Nationally in yards allowed - should give us a much better idea of where Griffin stands among the Heisman hopefuls.
