49ers Rumors: Cornerback Chris Culliver faces felony charges after accident

In a disturbing bit of news from the world of 49ers rumors, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver is back in the news for all of the wrong reasons.

Well-known for making anti-gay comments at the Super Bowl just two years back, the troubled 49ers defensive back is now facing felony charges stemming from an arrest after an accident yesterday --

Per Bay Area news station ABC 7, Culliver made a U-Turn and, in the words of an attorney for one of the witnesses on the scene, "[l]ost a bit of control and ended up popping up on the sidewalk and striking a bicyclist."

Culliver allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle, closely followed by a witness. He is said to have fled the car with a bag, after being cornered in a nearby neighborhood. He was arrested later by authorities for possession of illegal brass knuckles, along with felony hit-and-run charges. According to ABC 7, he is also facing discipline for driving on a suspended license.

Previously expected to play a large role in the San Francisco 49ers secondary in 2014, the 25-year-old Culliver now faces what could be the end of his short three-year NFL career -- along with what could amount to substantial time in prison.
