49ers News: 49ers Promote Midwest Regional Scout Scott Brown To Defensive Line Coach

The 49ers have just a few coaching spots left to fill on Jim Tomsula's staff, and they took another step toward completing that roster by promoting Midwest regional scout Scott Brown to defensive line coach.

Brown has decades of experience coaching defensive lines in college - before joining the 49ers as a scout in 2012, he coached the defensive line at Arizona State (2011-2012), Colorado State (2008-2010), Duke (1996-2007), Minnesota (1992-1995), TCU (1983-1991) and Southwest Texas State (1980-1982).

The 49ers now need just a head strength & conditioning coach and a handful of assistants before Tomsula's staff is complete. 49ers GM Trent Baalke has done his best to surround Tomsula with experience, and several assistants - including DC Eric Mangini and TEs coach Tony Sparano - have served as NFL head coaches before joining the 49ers staff.

The team recently announced the hiring of inside linebackers coach Clancy Pendergast and defensive backs coach Tim Lewis - both have extensive experience as defensive coordinators. Linebackers coach Jason Tarver has also served as an NFL DC, most recently across the bay with the Oakland Raiders.
