3 Players The San Francisco 49ers Should Target In The First Round Of The 2018 NFL Draft

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now, going 4-0 with Jimmy Garoppolo as their starting quarterback. At 5-10, they will still end up with a top 10 pick - but don't have to worry about finding a quarterback. Which prospects will they be looking at? Here are San Francisco's three most likely targets in the first round of the draft:

1) Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

The 49ers desperately need to surround Garoppolo with weapons, particularly at running back. Enter Saquon Barkley, who is probably the best pure talent in this class. He can do it all out of the backfield and has no weaknesses to his game. There's a good chance that Barkley will be the first non-quarterback taken, which means he wouldn't be on the board when San Francisco picks. However, if he's there, they'll take him.

2) Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

If Barkley's off the board, the 49ers will likely look to sure up their offensive line with Nelson, who is clearly the best interior offensive lineman in this class.

3) Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama

San Francisco also needs help in the secondary, so here's an instant starter. Fitzpatrick could easily go before San Francisco's selection. He can play both cornerback and safety, and that versatility could easily get him in the top five.
