3 Offseason Moves The 49ers Must Make | Re-sign Armstead? Let Sanders Walk? Trade Back In NFL Draft?

The 49ers do not have a lot of draft picks or cap space yet there are some crucial moves the 49ers need to make in order to return to the Super Bowl in 2021. With Arik Armstead, Emmanuel Sanders and Jimmie Ward all pending free agents, the Niners will need to decide who to keep and who to let walk. In today’s 49ers Report ABOVE AND BELOW, host Thomas Mott discusses 3 off-season moves the 49ers must make leading up to the 2020 NFL season.

Arik Armstead is the biggest free agent name the 49ers have this off-season. The 49ers had the best defensive line in 2020 and Thomas thinks they need to resign Arik Armstead in order to keep that elite d-line together going forward. Will John Lynch opt to franchise tag him? Armstead had a career-year with 10 sacks, but has he proven he’s worth a long-term contract?

Should the 49ers resign Emmanuel Sanders? Fans are torn as to whether or not Sanders should be brought back in 2020. Sanders was traded to the 49ers at the deadline, playing 10 games for the Red and Gold. Sanders provided the Niners with a much needed veteran on a young and struggling WR corps. However, with Jalen Hurd set to return for 2020 and the free agents on the market, maybe it’s time to move on from Sander. Thomas Mott would rather the 49ers go after A.J. Green or Robby Anderson than pay big money to keep Sanders.
