Despite a late comeback attempt, the San Diego State men’s basketball team was downed 70-57 by No. 2 University of Kansas Tuesday night at Viejas Arena.
The Aztecs went on a 14-6 run to open the the second half and cut the lead to four on the backs of senior forward Winston Shepard, senior center Skylar Spencer and redshirt-freshman forward Zylan Cheatham.
The trio accounted for all the points in the run, highlighted by a windmill dunk from Cheatham, which nearly took the roof off of Viejas Arena.
However, Kansas junior guard Wayne Selden Jr. squashed any chance of the run going any further than cutting the lead to four points.
