Xander Bogaerts is no stranger to Yankee Stadium. He spent his entire career with the Boston Red Sox before joining the San Diego Padres as a free agent in the offseason prior to 2023. It makes sense then, that he would deliver a game-winning base hit in the top of the eighth inning that helped the Padres get a come from behind 4-3 win over the New York Yankees.
Bogaerts delivered a two-run single after Manny Machado ripped a two-out two-run double to left field off Yankees reliever Luke Weaver. Machado got the opportunity to deliver a big hit after both Fernando Tatis Jr.
