Would MLB walk away from MiLB altogether?

OK, now maybe Major League Baseball just might take their ball and go play somewhere else.

In an increasingly tense back-and-forth as the two sides negotiate a new working agreement for the 2021 season, MLB late Friday night threatened the very existence of minor league baseball as it currently works.

“If the National Association (of Minor League Clubs) has an interest with Major League Baseball, it must address the very significant issues with the current system at the bargaining table,” MLB’s statement read. “Otherwise, MLB clubs will be free to affiliate with any minor league team or potential team in the United States, including the independent league teams and cities which are not permitted to compete for an affiliate under the current agreement.
