PHOENIX (AP) -- Will Venable homered and then singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, and the San Diego Padres bullpen made the lead last for three innings in a 6-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.
Venable's hit in the seventh off reliever Enrique Burgos (0-1) drove in Justin Upton from second base.
