The San Diego Padres wanted Jarren Duran. Fans of the Padres wanted the Red Sox outfielder, too, and the front office appears to have done everything possible to try and acquire him - even after getting rejected initially. But it wasn't enough.
Duran was the perfect fit - and the perfect target - for the Friars ahead of the 2025 deadline, and unfortunately, San Diego came up empty on getting Duran, who wound up staying put in Boston.
Padres fans cannot complain too much, though, as AJ Preller and the rest of the front office staff added a bevy of players via trade this season, patching up several problem areas.
