Tatis, Padres topple Athletics 7-4

Fernando Tatis Jr. sent a deep shot 440 yards over the left field way for a two-run homer to spur the team’s comeback from an early 3-0 deficit and the Padres finished the game on a 5-1 run through the final five innings to top the Athletics 7-4 in game one of their two-game stint in Petco Park.

Behind Tatis, Manny Machado hit his own three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to give the Padres their biggest lead of the day.

After Chris Paddack struck out six in as many innings, the group of Emilio Pagan, Tim Hill, Drew Pomeranz, and Mark Melancon combined to allow just one run and finish out yesterday’s game with comfort.
