Talking with ... Padres infielder Seth Mejias-Brean

Seth Mejias-Brean celebrated his 28th birthday in El Paso in April, two days into the start of his eighth minor league season. The first six seasons began in the Cincinnati Reds’ organization, where he started his career as an eighth-round pick out of the University of Arizona. The Seattle Mariners acquired him in May 2017. The Padres signed him early in minor league free agency last December and added him to the 40-man roster earlier this month after he paired .316/.371/.455 batting line with 11 homers and 66 RBIs this year at Triple-A El Paso. Mejias-Brean’s two-run homer on Wednesday, the first of his career, proved the game-winner in Milwaukee.
