The Padres are bringing back the brown next year. Their mascot has a chance to do it in style.
The Swingin’ Friar is one of 19 candidates for induction into the National Mascot Hall of Fame.
The top-10 candidates through the first round of voting — from Oct. 6-12 – will move on the final round, to be held from Oct. 20-26.
During the final ballot — which can be found at www.mascothalloffame.com/thevote — mascots that appear on 65 percent of the aggregate total of ballots cast will be elected into 2020 class.
The general public can vote once per day.
