San Diego Padres: Tyson Ross Falls Short Of No-Hitter

What an emotional roller coaster for San Diego Padres fans last night.

Tyson Ross gave the Padres everything he had Friday night. After 127 pitches in 7 2/3 innings, Ross fell just four outs shy of the first no-hitter in San Diego Padres’ franchise history. Through one impressive stretch, Ross retired 18-straight Diamondback hitters, exhibiting just how filthy his stuff was.

The lone hit came off the bat of pinch-hitter Christian Walker in the 8th inning. Initially, it seemed like Tyson Ross had secured the last out of the inning, but a miss-read on a deep drive by Franchy Cordero in center field led to the end of not only Ross’ no-hit bid but the Padres’ lead as well.
