On Monday the San Diego Padres decided to non-tender right-handed pitchers Pedro Avila and Miguel Diaz.
Doing so brings the Padres’ total to 39 on their 40-man roster, leaving room for someone to be added through another acquisition this offseason.
They did tender contracts to their eight other arbitration-eligible players, which includes, Austin Hedges, Manuel Margot, Hunter Renfroe, Zach Davies, Dinelson Lamet, Luis Perdomo, Kirby Yates, and Matt Strahm.
Some thought Perdomo was a candidate to be non-tendered, but San Diego decided to keep him and let him compete for a bullpen spot.
