San Diego Padres pitchers Stephen Kolek, Wandy Peralta and Yuki Matsui could not come up with answers for the top of the Washington Nationals lineup.
The top four in the lineup for Washington, C.J. Abrams, James Wood, Luis Garcia Jr. and Nathaniel Lowe, combined for 10 hits, eight runs scored and six RBI to help the Nationals beat the Padres 10-6 to open their three game series at Petco Park, Monday.
Kolek, who started the game, navigated the Washington lineup the first time through the order without allowing a hit. The trouble for Kolek and San Diego started with Abrams in the top of the fourth inning.
