Report: Former Phillies pitcher Jerad Eickhoff says he’ll be in Padres camp

Another former Ranger is reportedly hoping to restart his career with the Padres.

Right-hander Jerad Eickhoff will participate in the big league camp with the Padres on a minor league deal, the 29-year-old recently told Indiana’s 14 News.

The Padres have not announced their nonroster invitations for camp, which begins next month.

Eickhoff was a 15th-round pick of the Rangers in 2011, when Padres General Manager A.J. Preller oversaw Texas’ professional, international and amateur scouting.

He was part of the package the Phillies acquired when they sent left-hander Cole Hamels to the Rangers in July 2015 and ultimately debuted with Philadelphia with a 2.
