Padres walk-off Mets to open series with win

Elias Diaz lined a ball into left field with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning that allowed Jose Iglesias to score from second base to give the San Diego Padres a 7-6 walk-off win over the New York Mets at Petco Park, Monday.

Diaz found himself down in the count 1-2 against Mets reliever Gregory Soto, but he was able to lift a ball over the infield and drop it in front of the New York outfielders to give San Diego the win.

Padres closer Robert Suarez came out of the bullpen to take his position on the mound in the top of the ninth inning with San Diego holding onto a 6-5 lead.
