Padres trade Urias, Lauer to Brewers, agree to deal with Pomeranz

The Padres circled starting pitching as arguably the area in the most need of an upgrade this offseason.

The cost for the first piece: Luis Urias.

The one-time second baseman of the future and left-hander Eric Lauer were dealt to the Brewers on Wednesday for veteran right-hander Zach Davies and outfielder Trent Grisham, a source confirmed for the Union-Tribune.

The Padres also have agreed with left-hander Drew Pomeranz — an All-Star with the Padres in 2016 — on a return as a bullpen piece. The terms were not immediately known.

Davies, 26, was 10-7 with a 3.
