TORONTO — The Padres have agreed to trade outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. to the Toronto Blue Jays, according to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, who reported that a deal likely will be completed Tuesday.
With the Padres still in Toronto for their first-ever series here, Upton will head to the other side of Rogers Centre reportedly in exchange for a Single-A prospect. The Padres are expected to pay down a significant amount of the roughly $22 million left on his contract.
