Padres to acquire Tommy Pham, send Renfroe to Tampa Bay in swap of outfielders

The Padres are close to adding another outfielder and also sending one away.

Tommy Pham, who last year hit .273 with an .818 OPS for the Tampa Bay Rays will now be the Padres left fielder. Hunter Renfroe, the Padres home run leader with 33 in 2019, will be sent to the Rays.

There are other pieces to the nearly completed deal between the teams, believed to be a prospect sent each way.

Pham is the second outfielder the Padres acquired via trade this offseason. They sent second baseman Luis Urias and starting pitcher Eric Lauer to the Brewers on Nov.
