Padres stymied by Rockies in third game of series

A day after the San Diego Padres recorded 24 hits, they managed just five hits and dropped the final game of their series against the Colorado Rockies 9-3 at Coors Field, Sunday.

Colorado pitcher German Marquez surrendered a run in the first inning, but was able to keep San Diego off the scoreboard for the remainder of his outing.

Marquez retired 17 Padres in a row at one point before Gavin Sheets put an end to that streak with a single in the top of the seventh.
