Padres’ streak reaches four with loss to Marlins

MIAMI —

The road trip that seems so important in determining how the Padres finish the season did not start well.

The rookie starting pitchers for both teams got hit hard and faltered with command early.

Padres left-hander Logan Allen was knocked out after 2 1/3 innings, having allowed seven hits and seven runs. Marlins righty Jordan Yamamoto bounded off the ropes to last five innings and get the win in what ended up a 12-7 rout by the team with the National League’s worst record.

The Padres’ season is breaking bad because they can’t beat bad teams often enough.
