Padres prospect update: Friars add catching depth, Campusano catches fire too late

What a week it was for the San Diego Padres on the trade market. After dealing away several top prospects - which called for a re-ranking of the organization - the Friars were still shopping for a minor league catcher.

Past the trade deadline, the Padres made a deal with the Pirates to acquire 27-year-old catcher Eli Wilson. A catcher, Wilson has only played in 11 contests this season with Triple-A Indianapolis. However, he's logged at least one hit in nine of those games, batting .294 with seven RBIs. He's never reached the major leagues, but he may be given his chance if he plays well with Triple-A El Paso, depending on how the catchers play in the majors.
