The Padres decided it was time to see if Robert Stock can do what they had counted on him doing all season.
“Looking for more options in the bullpen that we think are really going to help us,” manager Andy Green said. “He’s always had the stuff to help us. … He’s one of the guys we always thought could be a leverage arm for us. You want to have as many of those guys in the bullpen as you possibly can.”
Stock was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday, replacing Matt Wisler in the bullpen. Wisler was designated for assignment, meaning the Padres have a week to trade or release him.
