Padres notes: Preparing for no fans; Rothschild’s risk; five at a time

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday said the rate of hospitalizations for COVID-19 jumped 32 percent in the state over the past two weeks, and positive tests in San Diego have spiked.
