Padres notes: Pitching shuffle; lefty usage; big meeting

The Padres are preparing for a wild season, and that probably means utilizing their pitching staff in unique ways.

The combination of a 60-game schedule essentially making the entire season a pennant race, the potential for even minor injuries to cause relatively long absences, the possibility of positive COVID-19 tests and the fact pitchers had 3½ months off and then just three weeks to get ready make the mutations endless.

Starters as relievers, relievers as starters, cats and dogs living together.
