Padres notes: Lamet to start sooner than usual; Green calls for more quality; Castillo done

For just the seventh time this season, a Padres pitcher will make a start on four days rest.

Dinelson Lamet, less than 16 months removed from Tommy John surgery, will pitch Sunday against the Rockies. It will be the right-hander’s first start with less than five days off since his last start.

The 27-year-old threw a season-high 104 pitches on seven innings Tuesday in Seattle, taking a no-hitter into the seventh before a one-out single.

“We felt with where we were and where he is and the strength he has that we’re comfortable with him doing that,” Green said of the relatively quick turnaround.
