PEORIA, Ariz. —
MacKenzie Gore and Luis Patino represent the Padres’ next wave of minor league talent, and the forecast has them about to crash on San Diego’s shore.
It almost certainly will not be at the start of this season but rather sometime during it. Could be May, could be June or July or later.
“Depends on how well they do,” General Manager A.J. Preller said.
The Padres have shown time and again their willingness to allow young players to push their way through the minor leagues as fast as their talent and mentality will allow.
