The possibility of multiple players testing positive for COVID-19 (or even having to sit due to contact with a potentially infected teammate) has the team preparing for multiple contingencies at each position.
Josh Naylor worked at first base Friday behind Eric Hosmer. Ty France worked there Saturday. Wil Myers and Jake Cronenworth will add some work at first base to their turns elsewhere in the infield.
“We have to have the ability this year to adapt, because we don’t know what’s coming our way,” manager Jayce Tingler said. “Players that are capable of playing other positions, we’ve got to work on it now.
