The first meeting of the 2025 season between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers proved to be worth the wait. Both teams put up runs, and the game went to extra innings before the Dodgers won the series opener 8-7 at Petco Park in 10 innings, Monday.
The game was tied 6-6 after nine innings and then Dodgers started the top of the 10th inning with Max Muncy as the automatic runner on second base. Wandy Peralta took the mound for the Padres after closer Robert Suarez worked a scoreless ninth inning.
Peralta faced Andy Pages and the need for San Diego to identify and acquire an every day left fielder was highlighted with one swing of the bat.
