Padres K more than ever, more than most

Wil Myers went through the gamut of fixes, and then the bare-handed batter got back to basics.

It helped. He started trusting himself, which helped him stay patient and keep his lightning swing in the zone longer.

And that led to something else, a significant facet of the game that the Padres have missed much of this season and many recent seasons.

“Whether I’m crushing it or not, I’m at least putting it in play,” he said early last week while at what turned out to be the tail end of a run of a 3½-week run of stellar production at the plate.
