Padres hold off Phillies, open series with win

The San Diego Padres opened their three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies with a 4-2 win at Petco Park, Friday. The result of the game was thanks in large part to the five All-Stars on the San Diego roster, who were responsible for game saving plays and run scoring hits.

Jason Adam found himself in a significant jam in the top of the eighth inning. Adam replaced, Adrian Morejon, the most recently named All-Star, after he completed the top of the seventh inning facing just three batters and recording two strikeouts.

Adam opened the inning by allowing a walk to Trea Turner and getting Kyle Schwarber to fly out.
