Padres history (June 11): Chris Paddack in command

The Padres won but Chris Paddack did not in his second big league start. The rookie right-hander didn’t even make it out of the fourth inning, walking four batters in a 6-4 win last April in St. Louis.

Like just how far fastball command would carry him.

He had it on his side, more or less, in an ensuing 10-game run that ended on this date — June 11 — in 2019 in which he walked one or fewer batters. The streak tied Ed Whitson’s 1984 run for the longest in franchise history and the fifth-longest in the majors in 2019.
