The sixth inning of the contest between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers illustrated the painful difference between the two teams. Of course, there is the drastic difference in payroll, but after the money, the difference shows up in the performance on the field. The result was an 8-6 win for the Dodgers over the Padres.
The Padres put two runners on base in the top of the sixth inning. Manny Machado singled and Gavin Sheets walked to put runners at first and second with no outs with game tied, 3-3.
Xander Bogaerts, still looking to endear himself to San Diego fans, was trying to put his team ahead with a hit.
