Padres downed 6-2 by D-backs’ flurry of home runs

It’s not often you watch a baseball game where one team scores all six of their runs via home run, but that’s exactly what the Diamondbacks did on Saturday afternoon. Arizona’s Ketel Marte, Josh VanMeter, and Trayce Thompson all went yard to overwhelm the Padres 6-3 in their latest spring training exhibition in Peoria, AZ.

Fernando Tatis Jr. was the team’s designated hitter on the day and started off the Padres’ scoring by speeding through home on a sac fly by Manny Machado. That tied the things at 1-1.

That score held until VanMeter’s home run in the sixth which opened things up to 4-1.
