The San Diego Padres could not find an answer for Philadelphia Phillies staring pitcher Zack Wheeler and suffered a 4-0 shutout loss at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Monday.
The San Diego offense managed just six hits off Wheeler, which included two hits apiece from Luis Arraez and Xander Bogaerts and a hit apiece from Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. None of those hits came with runners in scoring position and the Padres are 0-for-20 in that category over the past two games. San Diego has also left 20 runners on base over that span. Bogaerts did add a third hit in the bottom of the ninth off Tanner Banks to give the Padres seven hits in the game.
