The San Diego Padres boast some of the most impressive pitching depth in all of baseball. And that depth will be put to the test just two weeks into the regular season with the news that Adrian Morejon will need Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of the 2021 season.
Morejon left his April 11 start due to an injury – and now, we have a clearer picture as to its severity. There’s obviously never a good time to lose an up-and-comer on your pitching staff, but it does line up well with the return of right-hander Dinelson Lamet, who will make his first start of the year on Wednesday.
