Padres blank Cardinals 4-0 in Game 3 win

The Padres played smart baseball and let the bats rip in the second half of Friday’s contest, scoring four runs in the second half of Game 3 to win 4-0 over the St. Louis Cardinals at Petco Park.

Fernando Tatis hit a double to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning, and just one batter later Eric Hosmer also struck a double into left to get the Padres on the board at 1-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Manny Machado grounded into a fielders’ choice to score Jake Cronenworth from third.
