In their first trade of deadline day, the Padres added to their already excellent pitching ranks. Their bullpen is already the best in baseball based on ERA. Then they added a lockdown closer who throws 101 mph to the back end. Although not a front-of-the-rotation pitcher, JP Sears is a valuable lefty that can slot in mid-rotation or at the back end. Both of their newly added arms are controllable for the next several seasons.
