Padres' 2025 third-round pick delivers standout debut performance

You wouldn’t think that the San Diego Padres would have any more solid prospects to offer after the fire sale at the deadline. But it seems that the team still has talent making its way up the farm system rankings. Ryan Wideman made his debut with the Lake Elsinore Storm on Tuesday, the Padres’ Single-A affiliate, and he made an instant impact. The 21-year-old went 3-for-5 with three singles and two RBIs.

Selected in the third round of this year’s draft, Wideman played his college ball at Western Kentucky University, where he slashed .398/.466/.652 and tallied a total of 97 hits.
