On this Date in Padres History 5/12/2001: A.J. Burnett throw an odd no-hitter in Qualcomm

On this date in San Diego Padres history, Florida pitcher A.J. Burnett blanks the Padres, 3-0, in a no-hitter that somehow was produced with every opposing batter having gotten on base at least once. Burnett managed the feat after allowing nine walks in 129 pitches, including hitting one batter.

The game took place in front of just under 42,000 fans at Qualcomm Stadium and the loss brought the Padres to an even .500 with an 18-18 record.

The scoring got started when Padres starting pitcher Wascar Serrano allowed a double to right field in the top of the third which brought right fielder Eric Owens and center fielder Preston Wilson home for a 2-0 lead.
