MLB testing snags cause disruptions; Padres mostly unaffected

On the day Major League Baseball is set to announce its schedule, cracks in the foundation of protocols meant to ensure that season is played began to show.

At least a couple teams canceled their Monday workouts because results of tests had not been received. The Angels on Sunday had players and staff administering their own tests when testers did not show up at the team’s facilities.

“Per MLB’s protocol, all players and staff were tested for COVID-19 on Friday, July 3,” Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo said in a statement Monday. “Seventy-two hours later, we have yet to receive the results of those tests.
