MLB commissioner appears set to implement season after latest proposals rejected by players

When and where, it appears, is finally upon us for real.

Negotiations between Major League Baseball and its players appear to actually be finished, which is expected to lead to there actually being games played in 2020.

“I anticipate it happening,” said Padres catcher Austin Hedges, the team’s player rep on the union’s executive committee. “I think everyone wants to play baseball. I’m confident we’re going to have a season.”

Two proposals by Major League Baseball and two counteroffers and then two more proposals by the league led to a vote Monday afternoon in which the MLB Players Association overwhelmingly rejected the league’s latest proposal for a 60-game season.
