The Padres’ Double-A affiliate, the Amarillo Sod Poodles, capped their inaugural season with a Texas League Championship.
Here’s at least one reason why Year 2 will be memorable: The Sod Poodles will host the 2020 Texas League All-Star Game on June 23 at Hodgetown.
“We couldn’t be more proud to announce to our community and to the best fans in baseball that the annual marquee event in the Texas League is coming to Amarillo in 2020,” Sod Poodles President and General Manager Tony Ensor said in a team release. “Last season was the storybook year we all dreamt about, and now, as part of our efforts to make the sequel year even better, we’ll be hosting the Texas League’s All-Star Game in our city.
