Minors: Sod Poodles’ All-Star Game pushed to 2021

The Amarillo Sod Poodles will still get their all-star game — next year.

Sod Poodles President and General Manager Tony Ensor on Friday announced that the home of the Padres’ Double-A affiliate would host next year’s Texas League All-Star Game. This year’s game — which was to be held in June at the Sod Poodles’ Hodgetown ballpark — has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down baseball across the country.

There is no start date for Major League Baseball or any of its minor league circuits this year.

“We would like to graciously thank our league partners for their support in keeping the league’s marquee event in our great city,” Ensor said in a statement.
