Minors: Franchy Cordero, Chihuahuas have a grand night

The Padres were hoping Franchy Cordero wouldn’t need more than a few games to regain his timing. They might be right.

The 24-year-old outfielder hit a grand slam and doubled in a three-hit effort in his second rehab game at Triple-A El Paso, who scored a record-breaking 24-4 rout of visiting Tacoma on Saturday night.

Rehabbing a right elbow sprain, Cordero drove in five runs, scored twice and struck out once in seven plate appearances. He was 1-for-5 with two strikeouts on Friday.
