Stephen Kolek entered his third start of the season facing the Seattle Mariners at Petco Park looking to keep his scoreless innings streak intact. He was also trying improve to 3-0 on the season and he was trying to lead the San Diego Padres to a win. However, none of those goals were accomplished and San Diego lost to Seattle, 5-1.
Kolek’s scoreless innings streak came to an end when the Mariners leadoff man, J.P. Crawford, hit a home run on the first pitch of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Kolek saw base traffic throughout the first inning, but did not allow another run.
