Jayce Tingler finishes as runner-up NL Manager of the Year

It was announced that Marlins skipper Don Mattingly took home the NL Manager of the Year Award on Tuesday evening after he received 20 of the 30 first-place votes from the Baseball Writer’s Association of America. The Padres’ Jayce Tingler, despite leading the team to the Nationa League’s second-best record behind the Dodgers with a 37-23 mark, received just six first-place votes to go along with 13 second-place votes and two third-place votes.

David Ross of the Cubs finished third.

Not only did Tingler capitalize on the apparent talent he inherited on this roster, he was able to navigate the plethora of challenges set before him stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.
